Circle of Stone is a small company that does great things with natural stone in the landscape, home, and garden. My name is David Reed and for the past twenty years my crew and I have been creating stonescapes in and around the beautiful town of Asheville, North Carolina.

Simply put, "stonescaping" is the introduction of stone into a setting, garden or the landscape. It is combining the practical and the aesthetic qualities of stone to enhance/enrich both the home and garden. I am talking about natural stone here, a timeless material, 'bones of the earth', and the foundation material for many a garden throughout history. The imagination and a budget are the only limitation.

Ideas range from simple to exotic; consider a couple groupings of boulder stones to either side of your entry walkway. This invites a host of ideas for perennial and annual plantings to compliment the stones. How about a dry stacked stonewall retaining the exposed cut in a slope, and/or steps connecting gardens at different levels. More exotic still could be a stone bridge or perhaps an arched stone entryway with an inviting stone bench beside it. Dry stone features set in the landscape are our specialty; we are also experienced in designing and building with interior and exterior mortared stone masonry.
