Beautiful stepping stones beneath your feet are an invitation to explore what lies just beyond the next bend in a garden path. Stone is a durable hardscape material that weathers well and won’t wear out. Imagine a small courtyard with granite cobblestones along the perimeter framing larger pieces of sandstone; or wooden steps leading down to one large piece of quarried stone for a landing. It is my preference when possible to use local/regional material such as Crab Orchard paving stone from eastern Tennessee. When called for it’s hard to match the look of Pennsylvania bluestone for its rich color and pure pleasure to work with.
