STEPS
| WALKWAYS | DRY STACKED WALLS | MORTARED STONEWORK | AND MORE

Dry stacked retaining walls add timeless beauty to the landscape. They function to retain unstable soil, often where a slope has been intentionally cut back and exposed.  Walls of this sort have been built for hundreds of years using just stone and a mason’s skill. Backfilled with crushed stone, these walls are capable of capturing the surface water of storm runoff and then slowly releasing it into the soil below the wall. A series of terraced walls is an attractive way to stabilize a sloped area and establish beautiful planting beds.
